Biography

David Owusu-Ansah is professor of African history at James Madison University, where he has been teaching for more than two decades. His book publications include the Islamic Talismanic Tradition in Nineteenth Century Asante (1991), and Islamic Learning, the State and the Challenges of Education in Ghana (2013, with Abdulai Iddrisu and Mark Sey). He has contributed many secularly articles and chapters on Islam and the political history of Ghana. He authored the second and third editions of the Historical Dictionary of Ghana.
