Jan Zima (1952–2019) was a professor in the Faculty of Science in Brno. Since 1976, he worked on the evolutionary and comparative molecular biology of a large number of Eulipotyphla and rodent families. His work includes authorship of 24 monographs and he also collaborated on the Atlas of European Mammals in 1999.
