Biography
Jo Freeman is a lawyer, activist, and historian who publishes frequently on feminism and the history of social protest movements. After graduating from Berkeley, she travelled south to participate in the Second Freedom Summer of 1965. She holds a PhD from the University of Chicago and a JD from New York University and is a fellow of the Brookings Institute and a Congressional Fellow of the American Political Science Association. She is the author of eleven books, most recently We Will Be Heard: Women's Struggles for Political Power in the United States (Rowman & Littlefield, 2008).
