Lisa Cartwright is Professor of Visual Arts, Communication and Science Studies, University of California, San Diego, USA. She is a founding member of the International Association of Visual Culture and the journal Catalyst: Feminism, Theory, Technoscience. Her previous books include Practices of Looking (2017), Moral Spectatorship (2008), and Screening the Body: Tracing Medicine’s Visual Culture (1995). She is project lead on Embodied Pacific (2020-2025), a Getty PST ART initiative about oceanographic and Indigenous art and science.
