Biography

Marta Cristina Azaola is Associate Professor at the School of Education, University of Southampton, UK. She is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and interested in educational inequalities, social inclusion and exclusion through schooling. She has recently published on school belonging, the public–private school divide and discourses of deficit and trust in technical high schools. She convened the conference Lessons of resilience and social inclusion from the Covid-19 pandemic, funded by The British Academy and the Wellcome Trust, which culminated in the edition of her recent book: Global Perspectives on Recovery from Learning Loss: Educational Responses to the Covid-19 Pandemic.
