Biography

Tanushree Bhowmik is a New Delhi based independent food researcher, writer and author. Her research interests include ancient to colonial food systems in the Indian subcontinent, religio-cultural significance of food, indigenous ingredients, and sustainability, gender and policy. She writes for premier Indian publications and is oft quoted by food writers and journalists on pieces that deal with the subjects. She is also a contributing author to the Bloomsbury Handbook of Indian Cuisine.
