Timothy J. Groulx is Professor of Music Education at the University of North Florida, USA. A native of Punta Gorda, he earned his Ph.D. in music education from the University of South Florida in 2010, and Bachelor of Music and Master of Music in Teaching from Oberlin Conservatory in 1999. His research interests focus on the history of music education, and has developed the Sound Before Symbols method focused on creativity, improvisation, and self-expression.
