Ancient Migration and Mobility explores migration and mobility through archaeological and historical perspectives. This series studies movement, exchange and identity from the Bronze Age to Late Antiquity focusing on the Mediterranean and adjacent regions. Proposals can cover a range of topics and themes: voluntary or forced migration; nomadism and settlement; pilgrimage and religion; memory and the representation of mobility; identity and otherness; cultural change; diaspora communities; borders; networks and network theory; economic migration, trade, and exchange; communication and travel; and slavery. Each exploration might include the causes and processes behind these movements, how they were experienced, how they can be traced historically and archaeologically, and their implications for societal and cultural change. Furthermore, this series offers long-term perspectives on movement that promise to bring a critical lens to modern assumptions and debates regarding borders, displacement, identities, and migration.
