John Rennie Short is professor in the School of Public Policy, University of Maryland Baltimore County. His recent books include The Unequal City: Urban Resurgence, Displacement and the Making of Inequality in Global Cities, Hosting the Olympic Games: The Real Costs for Cities, and A Regional Geography of the United States and Canada: Toward a Sustainable Future.
