Dr. Luciana Duranti, a graduate of Sapienza University of Rome, Italy, is Professor Emerita of archival science and diplomatics in the School of Information of the University of British Columbia (UBC), in Vancouver, Canada, and Affiliate Full Professor at the University of Washington at Seattle, United States. She started her career as Archivista di Stato at the State Archives of Rome in 1978. In 1982, she became Ricercatore in Archivistica at the Sapienza University of Rome, until she moved to UBC in 1987 as a Professor in the newly minted Master of Archival Studies.
