Marc A. Hertzman teaches Latin American culture and history and is Director of Undergraduate Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He has lived, researched, traveled, and taught in Brazil. His first book, Making Samba: A New History of Race and Music in Brazil, won Honorable Mention for the Latin American Studies Association’s Bryce Wood Book Award.
