Nick Dear was born in Portsmouth. He now lives with his family in London. His translations include Ostrovsky's 'A Family Affair', de Molina's 'The Last Days of Don Juan' and Moliere's 'Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme'. He has written opera libretti, 'The Palace in the Sky', 'Siren Song' and 'A Family Affair' and screenplays for 'Cinderella', 'The Turn of the Screw', 'The Gambler', 'Persuasion' and 'The Ranter'. His original plays include 'Zenobia', 'In the Ruins', 'Food of Love', 'The Art of Success', 'Pure Science' and 'Temptation'.
