Roberta Tomber is Visiting Fellow in the Department of Conservation, Documentation and Science at the British Museum. She specialises in Roman and Indian Ocean pottery and is co-author of The National Roman Fabric Reference Collection (1998), and author of Indo-Roman Trade: From Pots to Pepper (2008, also published by Bloomsbury). She was awarded the Antiquity 2007 prize for her article ‘Rome and Mesopotamia – importers into India in the first millennium AD’.
