Sara McMahon started birding aged eight in the Midlands, armed with her plastic binoculars and the Observer Book of British Birds. She has contributed to many field reports, research papers and magazines, including writing Bird Watching magazine's monthly Cornwall round-up for over 20 years, and is the co-author of Best Birdwatching Sites in Cornwall and Scilly. Now based in Plympton, Devon, Sara is an active birder, particularly enjoying rarities, patch birding, and seawatching along the Devon and Cornwall coasts.
