Timothy M. Gill is Associate Professor of Sociology at the University of Tennessee. He has written about politics, corruption, and U.S. foreign policy, among other topics, for outlets such as the Washington Post, The Nation, Cleveland Scene, and Cleveland Plain Dealer. He is the author of Encountering U.S. Empire in Socialist Venezuela: The Legacy of Race, Neo-Colonialism, and Democracy Promotion (2022) and editor of The Future of U.S. Empire in the Americas: The Trump Administration and Beyond (2020). He is also a Contributing Writer at the Cleveland Review of Books. Gill is a native Clevelander and grew up in the West Park neighborhood of the city.
