Mona Ashour
Biography
Mona Ashour is Assistant Professor in Humanities and Women’s Studies, a Fulbright Alumna and Selection Committee Member, and an interdisciplinary researcher specializing in environmental humanities, ecofeminism, and digital/data feminism. She holds a PhD in English and a Master’s in Gender, Sexualities, and Women’s Studies from the University of Florida. Her research focuses on the intersections of climate change, feminist theory, and narrative representation, with particular attention to how climate fiction reflects and challenges structures of power, violence, and inequality. Ashour has written on ecofeminism, speculative fiction, and post humanist theory, contributing to an emerging interdisciplinary dialogue on literature’s role in shaping climate and gender justice. In recognition of her scholarship and service, she received the 2024 Award for Outstanding Merit and Professional Achievement from the University of Florida. Her teaching spans literature, gender studies, and environmental justice, and she currently teaches at Santa Fe College in Florida. Ashour is also a UNA/UNICEF activist, former Director of Advocacy and Director of Events at UNA-USA (Chapter of Gainesville) and current Board Member at Graeter Gainesville International Center (GGIC).
