Phil Mellows is a freelance journalist who has written about beer and pubs for industry and consumer titles for more than 35 years. He has been a judge for The Publican Awards, and later the Great British Pub Awards, since 1998. As a journalist for the Brewery Manual he has closely followed the dramatic developments in the UK beer market during the past decade.
