Prasanna Chandra

Biography

Dr Prasanna Chandra is the director of the Centre for Financial Management, Bangalore. A gold medallist throughout his university career, he holds a BCom, MBA and PhD from Osmania University. He has over five decades of teaching experience in postgraduate and executive education programmes. He was professor of finance at the Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore for over two decades, and visiting professor of finance at Southern Illinois University, USA for two years. He has served on several committees, including the Capital Issues Advisory Committee and the SEBI Committee on Derivatives. He has also served on the boards of several organisations, including Torrent Pharmaceuticals, Power Finance Corporation, UTI Investment Advisory Services Limited, Indian Institute of Management Bangalore, IFCI, Templeton Mutual Fund, Bangalore Stock Exchange Limited, ICFAI, SDMIMD and Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited. Dr Chandra has worked as a consultant for many organisations and conducted executive seminars for a number of companies such as Tata Motors, TMTC, Infosys, TCS, ITC, NIIT, Tata Steel, Microsoft, Wipro, Hindustan Unilever, HCL Technologies, HP, Tata Capital, Standard Chartered Bank, Sasken Communications, BHEL, Bharat Shell, ANZ Grindlays, HMT, Canara Bank, Vysya Bank, ONGC, GAIL, Motorola and Tata Power. He has published nine books: Financial Management: Theory and Practice (11th ed.), Investment Analysis and Portfolio Management (6th ed.), Behavioural Finance (2nd ed.), Strategic Financial Management: Managing for Value Creation (2nd ed.), Projects: Planning, Analysis, Financing, Implementation and Review (10th ed.), Corporate Valuation (2nd ed.), Finance Sense (5th ed.), Fundamentals of Financial Management (6th ed.) and Valuation of Equity Shares. He has also authored over seventy articles in professional journals and business periodicals. He has been a Fulbright Scholar and a UNDP Fellow, and has received several honours, including the Best Teacher Award from the Association of Indian Management Schools.
