Description
The Unification Church/Movement (UCM) is best known for mass-weddings, referred to as International Marriage Blessings, which included thousands of adherents in iconic venues such as New York Madison Square Garden and Seoul Olympic Stadium.
It's one of several new religious movements which became prominent during the 1970s. It was founded as The Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity (HSA-UWC) in Korea by Moon, Sun Myung (1920-2012) in 1954. It subsequently grew into a global movement, consisting of religious, cultural, educational, media, commercial and industrial enterprises worldwide. In the mid-1990s, the UCM reconfigured itself as the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification (FFWPU).
Historical Dictionary of Unification Church Movement contains a chronology, an introduction, and an extensive bibliography. The dictionary section contains cross-referenced entries on persons, places, doctrines, terminology, practices, organizations, events, and publications associated with Moon's tumultuous ministry. This book is an excellent resource for students, researchers, and anyone wanting to know more about the Unification church movement.
