Description
This book brings together fifteen interdisciplinary essays that seek to contribute to the unfolding of the reality of communication as a human phenomenon by exploring and documenting how communication has been envisioned, practised, and posited in India, that is Bharat, since time immemorial. Through these chapters, spanning from philosophical foundations to applied and contemporary perspectives, it seeks to complement the ongoing global scholarly efforts to unfold the reality of communication as a human phenomenon. Additionally, it aims to expand and deepen the scholarly discourse on communication by documenting insights and experiences from the rich tapestry of the Indian Knowledge Systems. By engaging with Indian classical texts, performative traditions, and oral narratives, it collectively illustrates communication as consciousness-in-action, as the eternal process of being and becoming, and underscores the importance of approaching and understanding communication from the Indian communication tradition, where satya and rta, anubhutiand anubhava, sravyaand drsya, suddhiand rasa, abhivyakti and caitanya converge to unfold the reality of communication as the non-dualistic human phenomenon of being and becoming. In doing so, it also attempts to retrieve India's communication heritage and rearticulate its relevance to modern times, when the need to reclaim and restore the triadic ideal of Satyam (truth), Sivam(auspiciousness), and Sundaram (aesthetics) in communication has never been greater.
