Description
The book assesses India's trade off in its bilateral vs regional approach to the engagement in the region. The present analysis is based on the Computable General Equilibrium modelling framework. Assuming India-ASEAN as the base scenario, the book explores changes by adding one country from the region- for example it evaluates and compares India-ASEAN, India-ASEAN+1, India-ASEAN+2 and India-ASEAN+3 in the CGE framework. The results have been evaluated in terms of prices, welfare, output, demand for unskilled labour, global import and export flows, and bilateral export flows. This analysis helps in understanding the complexities and linkages of the Indian economy with East and Southeast Asia. It will contribute and enhance the understanding of students, researchers and policy makers dealing with India's trade policy. It will serve as a useful guide to the formulation of trade and economic policies regarding India's Look East Policies. It primarily contributes to the trade policy literature along with policy inputs for India.
