Description

Editors Solomon Gwerevende, Trust Matsilele, and Wonder Maguraushe bring together a collection of interdisciplinary scholars to explore how musicking, politics, resistance, and activism are being restructured and reimagined in the postcolonial era in Africa.

The volume draws on Christopher Small's concept of "musicking" to explore the intersection of music performance, resistance, and activism in relation to elections and party politics. Chapters cover how music and dance have been used as tools of political messaging and means of performing, visualizing and localizing activism, resistance, propaganda, and power in politics.
