Description
The Production Manual: A Graphic Design Handbook provides readers with the practical expertise necessary to print and produce creative work.
This hands-on guide allows graphic design students to apply the knowledge acquired during their course. Essential production methods are covered in detail, with clear descriptions of the various technical processes involved in design for print, exhibition stands, packaging and signage.
The book tackles issues such as image resolution, printing techniques and platemaking, and demonstrates how to achieve difficult effects such as duotones and halftones. The text is supported throughout by examples of work taken from the best of contemporary design.

Reviews
-
Text is informative, up-to-date and well structured, with easily understood diagrams and good illustrative content. An excellent underpinning for all those engaged in graphic design.
Douglas Wilson, Nottingham Trent University, UK

The book is extremely relevant to the courses I teach and my overall reaction is that it is the most accessible delivery of this information I've been able to find. Because it is colourful and well designed the students aren't turned off by it immediately which is a plus when teaching creatives more technical aspects of the profession.
Molly Hill, Conestoga College, Canada

The book is interesting and well explained ... it is graphically appealing and has a good balance between text an image... as do all the AVA books I know.
Mário Roda, Escola Universitária das Artes de Coimbra, Portugal
-
A well-designed layout and numerous images for comparison make this a very accessible book.
Erin Coleman-Cruz, McHenry County College, USA
-
This is a great book for an overall summary of the printing process from start to end.
Sarah Jones, RMIT, Australia
