Description
It is the early decades of the twentieth century, and Europe is on the brink of war. A race is on to uncover anything that might tip the balance.
In the various Indian kingdoms under the British Raj, whispers of a hidden text swirl around, one said to hold clues to long-lost artefacts of untold power. The Department of the Reclamation of Wealth, a shadowy arm of the Empire, is tasked with tracking them down.
Zoraver Khan, a young archaeology student, is recruited by the Department and sent criss-crossing the subcontinent. He must decode ruins, navigate shifting allegiances and confront a legacy he has been trying to escape all his life.
From getting chased in the alleys of London to navigating the jungles of old Magadh, from secret meetings with Dadabhai Naoroji to traversing the sands of Harappa, Zoraver encounters revolutionaries, con artists and spies along with secrets buried in plain sight. As the Empire tightens its grip, Zoraver fights to save all that he can.

'Alive with mystery, shadowy letters, astrological charts, and strangers who may not be what they seem. A world where reason and superstition collide-and where history reveals itself to be far more thrilling than we've been led to believe.'
Samhita Arni, author of SITA'S RAMAYANA
