Douglas H. Johnson is an independent scholar specializing in the history of Sudan, South Sudan, and Northeast Africa. He is the author, editor, and co-editor of fourteen books, including Nuer Prophets (1994), The Root Causes of Sudan’s Civil Wars (3 editions 2003-2016), and South Sudan: A New History for a New Nation (2016).
