Biography

Michel Briand is Professor of Ancient Greek Language, Literature and Culture at the University of Poitiers, France. He published widely on archaic poetry (e.g. Pindare. Olympiques, 2014) and imperial fiction (esp. Lucian of Samosata), as well as on issues of gender, corporeality or transmediality (ed. La trame et le tableau. Poétiques et rhétoriques du récit et de la description dans l’Antiquité grecque et latine, 2012). He is also currently working on ancient and contemporary dance and edited Corps (in)croyables.
