SARA READ is a lecturer in English at Loughborough University, UK. Her research focus is the cultural representation of women's reproductive bodies, health, medicine, and religion in early modern England. She has published widely in this area from her monograph Menstruation and the Female Body in Early Modern England (Palgrave, 2013) to her new venture into historical fiction and her debut novel The Gossips' Choice (Wild Pressed Books, 2020) about the life and work of a midwife in 1665.
