Steven P. Gietschier

Steven P. Gietschier is a historian and author, as well as an archival consultant for The Sporting News. He was a public historian at The Ohio Historical Society, supervisor of the Repository Services Division for the South Carolina Department of Archives and History, university curator and professor of history at Lindenwood University, and professional archivist and corporate historian for The Sporting News. He is a member of the North American Society for Sport History (NASSH), the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR), the North American Sports Library Network (NASLIN), the newspaper division of the Special Libraries Association (SLA), and the editorial board of NINE: A Journal of Baseball History and Culture. He is the author of Baseball: The Turbulent Midcentury Years. Gietschier lives in the Greater St. Louis region.
