Halstead joins from Penguin Random House Audio, where she is Editorial Director, and begins her new role on 27th of June.
I'm delighted to be joining Bloomsbury. It is clear to me that the team and I share a passion for creating standout audio content, and I believe that there is so much potential to build on their award-winning successes. I can't wait to help take Bloomsbury’s audio business to the next level.
A senior publishing professional with almost a decade of experience in the audio team at Penguin Random House, Sam has overseen the management of the studio and editorial teams and their publishing programme.
Highlights include acquiring audio rights in Malcolm Gladwell's bestseller Talking to Strangers, as well as catalogue rights for Zadie Smith, William Boyd and Steven Pinker, amongst others.
Other career highlights have included leading on the PRH Audio Originals publishing strategy, and building a successful publishing programme; including ambitious projects such as the company's children's non-fiction series and 'Futurebook of the Year' winner Ladybird Audio Adventures; the widely publicised Edinburgh Unlocked comedy collaboration with Edinburgh Fringe, and a host of other projects.
I’m delighted to welcome Samantha to Bloomsbury; her experience and enthusiasm for the audio format is exactly what we were looking for. We have a brilliant team and we want them to be bold and to innovate in this format, creating audio works of excellence and originality but using the format in new ways, working with the best audio talent and pushing some boundaries about what is possible to tell brilliant book and stories. It is a really exciting time for this part of the Bloomsbury business.
