It has a new name: HARRY POTTER BOOK DAY.
This is to ensure the event is as inclusive as possible for fans of all ages - whether you’re an early bird or a night owl, you can celebrate any time of the day, or night, that suits you!
It’s moved to 12th October
We wanted to find a time that worked for as many countries as possible, and after extensive consultation, October was the clear winner. In 2023, Harry Potter Book Day will take place on 12th October. Plenty of time to get planning!

The theme for Harry Potter Book Day is MAGICAL PLACES. From Platform Nine and Three-Quarters to Hogsmeade, the Burrow to the Ministry of Magic, there’s a whole wizarding world to explore!
