India at the Limits argues that we don't know what India is except through a vast tapestry of language, communication, signs, and symbols that are widely amplified in the public spheres. Throughout nine discussions of art, film, music, and more, contributors explore the theoretical limits, boundaries, and liminal spaces that impact perceptions of India's cultural production both inside and outside its geographical border. Ultimately, readers are able to view India outside of typical state-driven formations, offering instead an ecosystem of signs and signposts to ground cultural understanding.
