Critical Issues in Anthropology

In this series, senior scholars look closely at the most pressing problems, controversies, or ideological differences that divide the discipline of anthropology. Each book is devoted to a single issue, or complex of issues, with the purpose of distinguishing problems and clarifying disputes. The series is not limited to "objective" appraisals of current problems, though such evaluations will be an important part of the series. We also welcome proposals from scholars who are advocates for or critics of specific perspectives. The purpose of the Critical Issues in Anthropology series is to stimulate discussions along those fissures separating anthropologists from one another. To do so, we welcome both dispassionate, disinterested voices and passionate, committed voices.
