Transformative Development for Postcolonial Africa

Aloysius Ngefac (Series Editor)

Transformative Development for Postcolonial Africa brings together scholars of African studies who approach the concept of “African development” from non-traditional, multidisciplinary perspectives across the social sciences and humanities. Books in this series go beyond traditional emphases on economic and industrial progress and focus on re-conceptualizations of histories, cultures, and educational principles. The authors gathered in these volumes advocate African development goals and African institutions, develop new analytical frameworks that align with African realities and priorities, and ultimately promote the decolonization of the African mind as a prerequisite for the complete postcolonial transformation of the continent, which remains a work in progress.

The series will release books that promote a transformative vision for the development of the continent, including the following:
a) books from the humanities and social sciences that address any aspect of the rich resources, potentials, and realities of Africa;
b) books from different disciplines that promote the African vision and cosmology;
c) books from the humanities and social sciences that challenge existing Western-style taxonomies, approaches, and paradigms that are not compatible with the realities, problems, and needs of Africa;
-d) books from the humanities and social sciences that deconstruct and reconstruct existing knowledge and strive to create the context-specific knowledge that can re-write the development story of the continent;
e) books from the humanities and social sciences that give postcolonial Africa the audacity to dream, champion, and live its own dreams;
f) books from the humanities and social sciences that valorize African sociocultural realities, identity, potentials, resources, and approaches, and promote the African vision that can enhance the psychological independence of the continent, which is still a long way away.
