It supports apprentice learners to develop their understanding of the role of an apprentice social worker and their critical and reflection skills. It specifically focuses on apprenticeship requirements such as developing maths and english skills and knowledge acquisition and application of British values. The book acknowledges the challenges of being a social work apprentice learner and includes a chapter that focuses on the management of wellbeing, and juggling practice alongside academic study. In addition to focusing on the apprenticeship standard, the book makes reference to Social Work England standards (2019) and BASW's PCF framework (2018) throughout.
