Birgit Schreyer Duarte, PhD, is a Toronto-based dramaturg, stage director and German/English translator, originally from Germany. She studied Dramaturgy in Munich and Drama, Theatre & Performance Studies in Toronto, worked in new play development and season planning, and has directed in Canada and Austria. She has translated over 25 plays and published translations of Max Frisch and Friedrich Dürrenmatt.
