El¡sio Macamo is Lecturer in Development Sociology at the University of Bayreuth, Germany. He was born and grew up in Mozambique. He studied in Xai-Xai, Maputo (Mozambique), Salford and London (the United Kingdom) and Bayreuth. He had been a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the University of Bayreuth, a Research Fellow at Centro de Estudos Africanos in Lisbon, Portugal, and the AGORA-Fellow at the Institute for Advanced Studies in Berlin. He is also a Fellow of the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study (South Africa) and serves on the scientific advisory board of the journals Afrika Spektrum and Indilinga - African Journal of Indigenous Knowledge Systems
