Dr. LaRay Denzer (16 August 1941 – 7 September 2025) passed away unexpectedly. She had recently completed editing the Newsletter for the Program of African Studies, Northwestern University and co-authoring The Historical Dictionary of Sierra Leone. For more than sixty years she was a highly regarded scholar and teacher of the history of West Africa. She was pursuing several research projects at the time of her death. LaRay Denzer is greatly mourned by her many fellow scholars and friends.
