Lynda Nead is Professor of History of Art at Birkbeck, University of London, UK. She is author of The Tiger in the Smoke: Art and Culture in Post-War Britain (2017), The Haunted Gallery: Painting, Photography, Film c. 1900 (2008), and Victorian Babylon: People, Streets and Images in Nineteenth-Century London (2000). She is a regular contributor to Kaleidoscope (BBC R4), Third Opinion (BBC R3), Night Waves (BBC R3), and Woman’s Hour (BBC R4).
