Biography

Rashad Arman Timmons is a Ph.D. candidate in African Diaspora Studies and New Media Studies at the University of California Berkeley, USA. Rashad’s research interrogates how the past, especially U.S. histories of chattel slavery and Native dispossession, shapes the built environments, technoscapes, infrastructures, and racial geographies of our present. Rashad’s current manuscript investigates the role of infrastructure in the plunder and persistence of Black geographies in Ferguson, Missouri, from the antebellum period to the tragic 2014 death of Michael Brown, Jr.
