Thomas Habinek †2019 was Dean’s Professor of Classics and long-time chair of the Classics Department at the University of Southern California, USA. A specialist in Roman culture, he wrote, among many works, The Politics of Latin Literature: Writing, Identity and Empire in Ancient Rome (1998) and The World of Roman Song: From Ritualized Speech to Social Order (2005).
