I am honored to endorse The Collective Mindset because I firmly believe in the value of collaborative vision and the idea that “none of us is smarter than all of us.” I also believe that we need to lead by example. Administrators cannot hope that our teachers appreciate the importance of professional learning unless we model that same behavior ourselves. Collaborating on what the future of the school should look like, as well as participating in action research to help us lead our schools to be not where we are, but where we want to be. As we continue to navigate teaching and learning in the time of COVID, we have expanded our work to embed The Collective Mindset both at the district and building levels to guide our futures-based decisions and actions. This book can assist educational leaders to develop a shared vision of their Preferred future demonstrate how action research helps us to achieve that vision. As educators gain confidence and skill through collaborative discussions and reflection, they will use this book as a framework for realizing their desired future.
Gina Talbert, EdD, Superintendent of Schools, Wyandanch Union Free School District
