In partnership with the Center for Religion and Civic Culture at the University of Southern California (CRCC), the volumes in this Open Access series investigate the nexus of religion and public life, focusing on the ways that religious organizations and spiritual movements adapt and innovate in response to the many challenges they face. Volumes utilize multiple disciplinary perspectives, both within and across volumes, and represent the range of perspectives of specialists at CRCC, including includes scholars, journalists, and faith leaders. The volumes address issues such as processes of institutional and organizational adaptation and change, religiously motivated efforts to achieve social change, investigations of charismatic and spiritually engaged individuals who are working for social change, and the importance of “place” as a key variable in how organizations and individuals are able to respond and adapt to social, cultural and political changes that impact their work in the civic sphere. The books will serve both scholars and the religious and community leaders who are interested in the wellbeing of public life.
