Description
This project centers on a conception of the “black Atlantic” that triangulates, not only Algeria to Tunisia to Martinique, but also three figures of French and Francophone thinking: Édouard Glissant, Jacques Derrida, and Albert Memmi. The authors show how Glissant's categorization of the transfer and the transplant presents itself to us as a paradigm for exploring the ideas of Derrida and Memmi in relation to each other.
